Liverpool moved back to the top of the Premier League table on Sunday with a crucial 2-1 win over Chelsea.
It was not an easy day at the office for the Reds, who were always likely to find it tough against an in-form Blues side.
But having put themselves ahead through a Mohamed Salah penalty, Liverpool then quickly bounced back from Nicolas Jackson’s early second-half equaliser to edge into the lead again.
The man who got that all important second goal was Curtis Jones. Having become a father for the first time last weekend, Jones had a brilliant game against Chelsea.
Jones dominated danger man Cole Palmer and was involved in both Liverpool’s goals on the day.
And with the Liverpool academy graduate’s strike proving the difference on Sunday, Arne Slot was spotted singling him out on the pitch after the game.

Arne Slot makes beeline for Curtis Jones
After somewhat feeling his way into the season so far, Jones has now started each of Liverpool’s last two matches.
That run may come to an end on Wednesday, as the Reds head to Germany to face RB Leipzig before another huge weekend Premier League game with Arsenal.
But after such an excellent all-round midfield display against Chelsea, Jones has now asked a real question of Slot.
And it seems that the Liverpool head coach really appreciates his No,17’s efforts.
As the whistle blew to confirm yet another win for the Reds on Sunday, BBC Sport commentator John Murray noticed Slot ‘heading straight over’ to Jones on the Anfield pitch.
“As he heads onto the pitch Arne Slot turns around and heads straight over to Curtis Jones,” says Murray.
“Who was instrumental in Liverpool winning today.”
Will Curtis Jones start vs RB Leipzig?
A lot has been made of the tough nature of Liverpool’s next 10 fixtures in all competitions. But they can now tick the first one off with a win.
The next challenge comes midweek, as the Reds look to maintain their perfect record in this season’s Champions League.
RB Leipzig are the opponents and although Liverpool have a good recent record against the Germans, it will be another test for Slot and his team.
With a trip to Arsenal coming on Sunday, it is likely that the Dutch coach will make a number of changes to his starting XI on Wednesday.
However, given the good form that he’s in and the recent question marks over Alexis Mac Allister’s fitness, we’d be surprised if Jones was not in the line-up once again. The 23-year-old has finally made a real mark on the season, the next challenge is to make this a regular occurrence.
