Liverpool were very quiet in the summer transfer window, although that was understandable for several reasons.

It was the first transfer window at Liverpool for new manager Arne Slot, who undoubtedly had a long list of issues to focus on aside from transfers.

Moreover, the Dutchman had been left with a very strong squad at Anfield by his predecessor Jurgen Klopp.

But Federico Chiesa was signed by Liverpool, while the Reds also agreed a deal for Giorgi Mamardashvili, who will join next summer.

New players could, however, now be eyed in the lead-up to the January transfer window, with Orkun Kokcu reportedly wanted by Liverpool.

Liverpool keeping tabs on Serbia international Andrija Maksimovic

There is, however, another attacking midfielder aside from the Turkey star that the Reds are reportedly keeping tabs on.

According to Sky Sports Germany reporter Patrick Berger, Red Star Belgrade attacking midfielder Andrija Maksimovic is being monitored by Liverpool.

The journalist reported on X that the 17-year-old, who became Serbia’s youngest-ever player on Saturday, has a price tag of €15million (£12.5million).

He does, however, have a contract with his current club until 2027, while the teenager is also wanted by Borussia Dortmund, Manchester City and Juventus.

There is undoubtedly plenty of excitement around the youngster, who appeared from the bench as Serbia beat Switzerland 2-0 in their recent Nations League clash.

Moreover, his versatility will certainly be greatly appreciated at Anfield, with the player able to operate in attacking midfield and anywhere on the right, both offensively and defensively.

He already boasts three goals and two assists this season, with Maksimovic also gaining Champions League experience.

But further progression will perhaps need to take place before a move to Merseyside given the club’s transfer policy under Slot.

It has become increasingly clear that the Anfield chiefs are only going to bring in players they feel can really add something special to the current group.
