Luis Diaz has been in fine form for Liverpool this season and has been one of the most improved players at the club under Arne Slot.

The arrival of a new manager has presented a clean slate to a lot of players and Diaz has taken to his methods like a duck to water, having already notched up five goals in nine appearances across all competitions.

The Colombian international has been preferred to Cody Gakpo on the left flank despite the Dutchman’s good form in the few opportunities he’s had, which is an indication that he is held in high regard by Slot.

Diaz is finally starting to produce the goods regularly and has been one of the most productive attackers in the Premier League this season.

And Jack Grealish has given a definitive answer on whether he is better than Arsenal attacker Gabriel Martinelli.

Martinelli has developed admirably for Arsenal under Mikel Arteta but has hit a bit of a roadblock over the past year or so.

He scored just six Premier League goals last season as the Gunners finished second in the Premier League behind champions Manchester City and has found the back of the net just twice so far in the current campaign.

When asked to choose between Diaz and Martinelli, Grealish, who knows a thing or two about Premier League attackers, showed no hesitation in naming the Liverpool man as the superior player currently.

What next for Luis Diaz?

Diaz spoke about his desire to compete for the Golden Boot after his strong start to this season and could be up there if he carries on in the same vein.

He already has five league goals to his name but faces an uphill battle to catch Manchester City’s Erling Haaland, who has scored goals for fun since signing for the Cityzens in the summer of 2022.

Slot claimed Diaz wasn’t at his best last season but will be pleased by the Colombian’s end product so far.

However, the key is for the 27-year-old to produce consistently, which will firmly establish himself as one of the best players in the Premier League in his position.
