Liverpool midfielder Ryan Gravenberch stunned Steve McManaman as the Reds picked up a 2-0 win over Bologna in the Champions League. The Reds have a 100% winning record after their first two ties in the League Phase, but the 22-year-old stood out for his role in the win.

Gravenberch has been an instrumental figure at Anfield this season after Arne Slot became the latest head coach of Liverpool. The Dutchman has started in all six of the Merseysiders’ Premier League fixtures and their early UEFA encounters as the deep-lying anchor in the XI.

McManaman believes Slot having the Amsterdam native anchor the engine room has been a genius decision with Gravenberch unlike most No6s. The Reds hero firmly thinks what the 14-cap international offers is unique with Gravenberch often striving to usher play forward.

McManaman said on TNT Sport’s coverage: “This is what he gives you as a No6. His mobility is excellent. He’s so different to the traditional No6s who sit and pass and play side-to-side.”

Alexis Mac Allister thinks Mohamed Salah ‘can see everything’ on the pitch

Liverpool took a 2-0 win over Bologna in the Champions League on Wednesday night thanks to goals from Alexis Mac Allister (11’) and Mohamed Salah (75’). Both players getting on the UEFA scoresheet delighted the former, who could only offer praise for the latter’s skills after.

Salah has had a simply fantastic start to his season to be the first Liverpool player since John Barnes in 1989/90 to score five or more and also assist five or more goals over the Reds’ first nine games. Both Salah and Barnes bagged six goals and five assists to reach their records.

Scoring and assisting against Bologna meant Salah has a European goal and assist this term as well as four of each in six Premier League fixtures. The 32-year-old also scored a goal in the Carabao Cup against West Ham United to help secure a dominant 5-1 third-round result.

It is not Salah’s success but rather his vision that Mac Allister sought to praise after Liverpool beat Bologna at Anfield, though. The Egyptian picked his Argentine teammate out inside the six-yard area to open the scoring with a perfectly weighted pass over the Rossoblu backline.

“In this team, we know that when we make a run Mo can see everything,” Mac Allister told TNT Sports. “I’m really happy for him, as well, because he scored a goal.”

Liverpool identify Karim Adeyemi as a £42m successor for Mohamed Salah

Liverpool could lose three of their most important players for free next year after Mohamed Salah, Trent Alexander-Arnold and Virgil van Dijk all entered the final year of their contracts. But Anfield bosses are preparing for the possibility of Salah leaving by eying Karim Adeyemi.

That is according to Bild, which reports that Liverpool see Adeyemi as a worthy replacement for Salah. The Reds have also sent scouts to follow the 22-year-old closely this season with a raft of visits. Adeyemi’s performances even also have Liverpool ready to bid €50m (£42m).

Adeyemi is very happy at Borussia Dortmund and has started his season in superb form with five goals and five assists in eight games. The German penned three of those goals, plus one assist, as Adeyemi led Borussia Dortmund in destroying Celtic 7-1 in the Champions League.

Former Liverpool midfielder Nuri Sahin, who is now the manager of Borussia Dortmund, put Adeyemi on their right wing against Celtic. But the four-cap Germany forward has also taken to the pitch for his Westfalenstadion club on the left wing and as a striker at times this term.
