Injured Liverpool player gives positive update and says he’s ‘back running’

Liverpool have done well to limit injury issues throughout the season so far.

The Reds have had a chequered few years with fitness problems, often losing key players at important points of campaigns.

But after a brand new Liverpool coaching staff was put in place over the summer, those worries appear to be easing off.

You never know when injury will strike, of course, but so far Liverpool have managed very well.

That doesn’t mean that there haven’t been any problems at all, though. Harvey Elliott currently looks set to be out for another month or so, while Federico Chiesa has a knock as well.

Another player to have missed significant game time this season has been Jayden Danns. But after a breakthrough campaign last term, it looks like the Liverpool academy graduate is nearing a return to fitness.

Jayden Danns posts two-word update

It has been a frustrating period for Danns. After bulldozing his way into the Liverpool squad last season, he hasn’t been able to get going under Arne Slot.

Had things been different, the 18-year-old wouldn’t actually still be at Liverpool at all.

A loan move to Plymouth had been lined up for Danns, but injury in August meant that the chance to join up with Wayne Rooney was scuppered.

Given the potential Danns has, though, you wouldn’t be surprised if he manages to catch Slot’s eye for the Reds first-team once he is back and ready to play.

And according to a post on the striker’s Instagram stories, that may not be long at all.

On Thursday morning Danns shared a photo of himself kitted up with boots on.

“Back running!” said the joyful caption, with a clear indication that the youngster is stepping up his return to the pitch.

What is the plan for Jayden Danns?

It’s fair to say that Liverpool’s forward line is stacked right now. But once he returns, Danns has a good shout at being seventh-choice option for the Reds.

The Scouser made a big splash under Jurgen Klopp last season, scoring two goals in five appearances.

And with Darwin Nunez struggling to convince so far this campaign, you could understand Danns getting a look in once he’s back.

Of course, we still don’t really know when that will be. Liverpool certainly don’t need to rush Jayden and risk another setback, so perhaps it will still be a little while yet.

But the good news is that Danns is on the right track. He’ll no doubt be champing at the bit to be back doing what he does best and sticking the ball in the back of the net.
