Ben Doak is regarded by many as one of Liverpool’s most exciting prospects, and the winger is finally up and running out on loan at Middlesbrough.

The Scottish international scored his first goal for Michael Carrick’s side this weekend with Harvey Elliott and Jayden Danns praising Doak on social media after his Man of the Match performance for Boro against Stoke City.

With Doak now fully fit and playing regular minutes in the Championship, this season could be a big one for the teenager’s development having impressed in pre-season with Liverpool this summer, where there are clearly big plans in place for the former Celtic wonderkid.

And Doak has now shared how he felt receiving praise from the likes of Jurgen Klopp and Virgil van Dijk whilst at Liverpool.

Doak reveals ‘strange feeling’ after immense praise at Liverpool

Speaking to Teesside Live, the 18-year-old attacker revealed that it felt ‘strange’ to receive such high praise from big profiles at Liverpool after making his first few appearances for the Reds, with Doak set for a huge future at Anfield.

Doak said when asked how it felt to receive such high praise whilst at Liverpool: “It is a strange feeling. It doesn’t even feel real. You don’t even react to it because you can’t even believe they’re saying it. I guess it’s good to be that way because it keeps your feet on the ground.”

Indeed, winning praise from the likes of Klopp and Van Dijk is a testament to how good Doak already is despite his tender age and relative lack of first-team experience compared to other 18-year-old players.

However, Klopp and Van Dijk rating Doak as highly as they do shows that there is a player in the Scotsman just waiting to be unleashed, and this loan spell at Middlesbrough will do just that for the teenage attacker.

Doak has shown glimpses of his quality in the few appearances the forward was handed during his time at Liverpool, yet now out on loan at a club with a good development record in Middlesbrough, the winger will really want to show what he’s capable of.

A first goal this weekend in his first start for the Riverside Stadium side is an encouraging development for Doak in what will be a long but hopefully fruitful year for the Scottish attacker, who already looks at home in the Championship.

And if Doak can start putting a run of form together, the winger could easily become one of the most dangerous attackers in the English second-tier under Carrick, who could help the Liverpool talent finally unlock his potential.
