Liverpool went to the top of the Premier League table under Arne Slot after their 2-1 victory over Wolves.

Slot wanted more aggression from his Liverpool players in the second half at Molineux, having gone into the break with a 1-0 lead.

Ibrahima Konate headed the Anfield club ahead in first-half stoppage time, only for the hosts to draw level shortly after the break.

But Mohamed Salah was on hand to give the visitors all three points, scoring a penalty just five minutes after Rayan Ait-Nouri’s goal.

Worryingly, the winger’s contract at Anfield will expire next summer, with Tony Cascarino telling Liverpool to replace Salah with Bryan Mbeumo.

Nigel Reo-Coker and Michael Brown agree over Liverpool’s title chase

For now, however, transfers will not be on the mind of Slot, who simply needs to keep on winning matches in order to keep the Premier League title charge alive.

Discussing the title race on the Football Daily podcast, BBC pundits Nigel Reo-Coker and Michael Brown were in agreement about Slot’s start to life in England.

“Liverpool are sneaking in very, very quietly,” said Brown. “Nige what do you think? I think Liverpool have done well with the transition.”

Reo-Coker responded: “Liverpool are in the best place right now. It’s funny because listening to everyone, everyone is talking about Arsenal-Man City, Arsenal-Man City.

“Liverpool are going about their business very quietly, in the perfect place. The spotlight isn’t on them, it’s still on Arsenal and Man City and this rivalry that’s being created. I think Liverpool for me are in the most perfect place they could be.”

Can Arne Slot win the Premier League with Liverpool?

The realistic Liverpool fans were not expecting the Premier League title to go their way when Slot came in for Jurgen Klopp.

But he has quickly won over the Anfield faithful, with many Reds fans perhaps believing that this really could be their year.

Helping their pursuit has been back-to-back league draws for defending champions Man City, with one of those coming against Arsenal.

Slot and his players do, however, need to keep the focus on themselves, as opposed to worrying about other clubs.

The Dutchman can do that by taking things one game at a time, with a focus on progressing in other competitions also required for Slot to call his first season a success.
