Arne Slot’s start to life as Liverpool manager has been an interesting ride so far for supporters of the Anfield side.

Despite a historic loss to Nottingham Forest, the Reds sit top of the Premier League table as well as in the top-eight of the UEFA Champions League league phase, with wins against Manchester United and AC Milan the clear highlights.

With Slot getting the best out of Ryan Gravenberch and Luis Diaz, the Anfield giants have shown that they can go for every piece of silverware this season under the Dutch manager, who has quickly implemented a style with his new team.

And Gabriel Agbonlahor has said that one Liverpool player is now undroppable under Slot.

Alexis Mac Allister praised after ‘outstanding’ run in Liverpool’s midfield

Speaking to TalkSport, the pundit showered Alexis Mac Allister with praise after a strong start to the season with Liverpool, with the Argentine midfielder thriving alongside Gravenberch as part of a twin no. 6 system under Slot.

Agbonlahor said when asked about Mac Allister and the former Brighton & Hove Albion star’s incredible start under new manager Slot: “I don’t think he gets enough plaudits, Mac Allister at Liverpool.

“It’s easy to pick midfielders in your Team in the Week who score, but I love the way when Mac Allister receives the ball off the centre-halves, he’s on the half turn, he can already see his forward pass and he starts off a lot of attacks for Liverpool.

“I think he is an outstanding footballer. His footballing brain is top, and he is a real part of this midfield at Liverpool now and undroppable the way he is playing.”

Slot has cracked the code on how to use Mac Allister in midfield

Mac Allister’s first year at Liverpool was a mixed one given how much chopping and changing there was surrounding the Argentine international’s role in Jurgen Klopp’s midfield, along with fellow summer arrival Dominik Szoboszlai.

Yet since Slot’s arrival onto Merseyside, the former Feyenoord manager has not taken long to crack the code on how to use Mac Allister in Liverpool’s midfield as effectively as the 25-year-old South American currently is.

Indeed, whilst goals and assists still allude the Argentine superstar, Mac Allister’s performances in the midfield have been hard to ignore, and the former Brighton maestro looks to have finally found his ideal role for Liverpool after a year of trying.
