Luis Suarez reacts after Darwin Nunez scores his first Liverpool goal of the season in win vs Bournemouth

Liverpool attacker Darwin Nunez is finally off the mark this season after scoring a stunner in the 3-0 win against Bournemouth.

Luis Diaz shone for Liverpool with his first-half brace, with Nunez firing in a superb strike to complete the scoring shortly after.

Both Diaz and Nunez impressed Andy Robertson, with the left-back helping Arne Slot keep yet another clean sheet as Liverpool manager.

Nunez has found it very difficult to break into the side this season, which is unsurprising given the displays of his fellow attackers.

Diaz, Mohamed Salah and Diogo Jota have all been in fine form, with Cody Gakpo and Federico Chiesa also pushing for minutes.

But Nunez delivered on his first start under Slot, firing in a superb left-footed strike from a narrow angle against the Cherries.

His effort certainly impressed the Anfield faithful, but it also caught the eye of Liverpool legend Luis Suarez.

Slot has largely favoured the attacking trio of Diaz, Jota and Salah this season, but Nunez got the nod over the Portugal ace against Bournemouth.

It was a great decision from Slot, who knows that he needs to rotate his squad in order to keep his players as fresh as possible.

Liverpool only just played AC Milan in the Champions League, where Gakpo had replaced Diaz in the final third.

Nunez knows that opportunities will come his way, particularly if he can continue to find the back of the net when given the chance.

The Reds already return to action on Wednesday, with Nunez very likely to feature heavily when West Ham travel to Anfield in the League Cup.
