There have been a number of big changes at Liverpool since the end of last season.
It is never easy to manage the departure of an all-encompassing figure such as the one Jurgen Klopp became for the Reds.
With Klopp in place at Anfield for so long, and with a similar coaching team around him for much of the near decade-long stint, too, things were always going to need carefully planning.
Thankfully, Liverpool have some smart people running things at the top of the club. Each change that has been made has been done so with care and thought.
The best one appears to have been installing Arne Slot as Klopp’s successor. So far, the Dutchman has proven to be a brilliant appointment.
But Slot is far from the only one to have arrived on Merseyside this summer. From sporting director Richard Hughes to first-team development coach Aaron Briggs, plenty has changed. Now, with the season still young, there has reportedly been some further tweaks to the backroom team.
Liverpool promote two staff members
Briggs has taken credit for Liverpool’s set-piece goals against AC Milan and along with Slot, Sipke Hulshoff, John Heitinga, Ruben Peeters and Fabian Otte looks like a bright addition for the Reds.
Hughes has also earned praise from fellow sporting directors in the game, but still has plenty to prove to Liverpool supporters after a quiet summer.
So far, though, the signs are that the Reds are in safe hands. Following departures for Klopp, Pep Lijnders, Peter Krawietz, Vitor Matos, John Achterberg, Jack Robinson, Andreas Kornmayer and Andreas Schlumberger, that is a relief.
According to Training Ground Guru, who report on the ‘teams behind the team’ in professional football, the exits of Kornmayer and Schlumberger have led to two promotions from within at Liverpool.

They claims that the pair’s joint departure led to a gap opening up as head of the club’s Performance and Medical department.
As a result, current Team Doctor Jonathan Power will reportedly now take ‘a strategic oversight of a unified department.’
A promotion is also said to have been given to Conall Murtagh, who has been moved up to become the Head of Physical Performance for the Reds.
Will Liverpool hire anybody else?
It has been a complete overhaul of just about everything at the club this summer. After almost nine years of similar people being in charge of departments, a change was perhaps needed.
Along with the time Slot will need to bed in properly, though, it’s worth pointing out that all of these things will have an effect on the Liverpool first-team.
Much has been made of Slot and Peeters’ ability to keep their players fit and Power will also play a part in that.
In the meantime, it seems that Liverpool are curtailing their search for a new set-piece specialist coach. According to journalist David Lynch on Substack, while the Reds reportedly remain on the lookout, they are happy with Briggs’ work in the department.
With all of the key positions now filled or preparing to be, it seems Liverpool are now set up nicely for the campaign and for more years to come.
