Liverpool continued their superb start to the new Premier League season with a routine victory over Man United.

Arne Slot guided Liverpool to a 3-0 win over the Red Devils at Old Trafford, with Luis Diaz (two) and Mohamed Salah on the scoresheet.

Four Liverpool players impressed Alan Shearer against Man United, with five Liverpool players wowing Troy Deeney.

The Reds have now scored seven goals from their first three matches, while they are yet to concede under Slot.

Three wins from three leaves the Merseyside club joint-top of the Premier League table with nine points, level with Man City.

Neil Mellor stunned by Mohamed Salah display vs Man United

Former Liverpool striker Neil Mellor was among those hugely impressed by the display in Manchester, with Salah particularly catching his eye.

Discussing the Egyptian on LFCTV GO, Mellor said: “It was absolutely magnificent, wasn’t it, to beat Manchester United away, we were too good for them.

“Salah is the first player to score in five straight [away] appearances against Manchester United in the Premier League, he has got 10 goals at Old Trafford in nine appearances, which is just incredible.

“He’s also scored or assisted 17 of Liverpool’s last 23 Premier League goals against Manchester United… Salah loves playing against Manchester United!”

Virgil van Dijk also shines in superb Liverpool performance

Slot headed into the match knowing exactly what it means for everyone connected with the club, from players to fans.

He passed the tests against Ipswich and Brentford, the latter of which was particularly important given it was his first competitive game at Anfield.

But the Man United challenge was his most important to pass, and he did so with flying colours, getting the better of compatriot Erik ten Hag.

It was a top display from start to finish, with each and every player stepping up to the mark at Old Trafford.

Attackers Diaz and Salah unsurprisingly gained much of the plaudits, but Mellor was also impressed by captain Virgil van Dijk.

The centre-back now has three clean sheets to his name this season, with Mellor saying of his latest display: “Virgil was absolutely magnificent. He dominates his own penalty area really well, he won every one of his aerial duels, he is a real leader.”
