Liverpool continued their winning run with a big 3-0 win away to Manchester United on the weekend.

The Reds remain one of two Premier League teams to win their opening three games this season with Arne Slot’s side also yet to concede a goal, with Liverpool dominating both in the defence and in the attack.

One player who has really thrived this season is Ryan Gravenberch, who Jamie Carragher likened to Patrick Vieira on Sunday as the £34m signing from Bayern Munich enjoyed what might have been his best game yet for Liverpool.

And Steve Nicol cannot believe what’s happened to Gravenberch this season.

Gravenberch lauded as ‘fantastic’ after Liverpool win vs Manchester United

Speaking on ESPN FC, the pundit was full of praise for how Gravenberch performed at Old Trafford, with the midfielder running the show for Liverpool and making United’s entire squad look silly by contrast.

With Gravenberch struggling to find his feet last season, the former Ajax wonderkid looks reborn in this new role under Slot, where the 22-year-old has made the no. 6 role his own alongside Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai.

And Nicol was impressed with what he saw from Gravenberch, with the pundit in shock by how big an impact the Liverpool midfielder has made this season in such a short space of time.

Nicol said: “Liverpool absolutely closed down that backline in that middle of the park for United very, very quickly today, particularly Gravenberch, who I don’t know where this guy has come from because last season I wondered why he was in the squad, but today and last week in particular he was fantastic.”

Gravenberch will be massive for Liverpool this season

Gravenberch has taken to the new season with a flourish, with the Dutch international looking like a new player after a year of adjusting to the Premier League under Jurgen Klopp last season.

And this time around, Gravenberch looks set to play a massive role for Liverpool, with the 22-year-old arguably the standout midfielder in the opening three games for the Reds under Slot.

The youngster has adapted to Slot’s system perfectly, and Gravenberch will be keen to keep proving himself to Liverpool fans and neutrals that he belongs in the Premier League.
