Liverpool could be in for a busy transfer deadline day as they look to finalise their squad.
The Reds have had a relatively slow summer and as a result still have quite a few loose ends to tie up on Friday
It has already been revealed that Liverpool tried to sign Alan Varela two weeks ago and there remains hope that a move for Varela or a player of his ilk is in the offing.
Meanwhile, the Reds may also be in line to trim down the first-team squad. The futures of a number of players are still up in the air with one day left for moves to be completed.
While some will be actively looking for new clubs, Liverpool will not welcome bids for others. Unfortunately, one who falls into the latter category could now be on the end of an attempt to prise him away from Anfield.

Nottingham Forest readying Caoimhin Kelleher bid
Liverpool have done well out of sales this summer. Although more might have been expected, only three first-team players have departed.
Despite the low number, though, the Reds managed to secure a high price out of Fabio Carvalho, Sepp van den Berg and Bobby Clark. Liverpool made more than £60m on that trio.
And as the deadline looms over the Premier League, that figure could soon be pushed beyond the £80m mark.
That’s because according to journalist Peter O’Rourke, Nottingham Forest are going to come in with a bid for back-up goalkeeper Caoimhin Kelleher.

Forest tried to sign Kelleher on Thursday, but saw a bid rejected by Liverpool. The offer reportedly included the chance for Liverpool to sign Matt Turner in a swap deal.
The Reds were not interested in that, though, and O’Rourke now claims that a more improved offer is coming from the City Ground on Friday.
“Nottingham Forest are preparing to make an improved bid closer to Liverpool’s £25m valuation for goalkeeper Caoimhin Kelleher before tomorrow’s deadline in a bid to persuade the Anfield club to sell the Republic of Ireland international,” says the reporter.
Liverpool should accept right price for Kelleher
We’ve no idea why Forest have left it so late to go for Kelleher when they’ve had all summer to make an acceptable offer.
Those with good memories will recall that Forest tried to buy Kelleher in the final days of the January transfer window, too.
The timing obviously gives Liverpool little chance to bring in a suitable replacement for the Irishman and as a result is probably likely to rebuffed, however big it is.
Nevertheless, Liverpool may have a replacement for Kelleher already in-house in Vitezslav Jaros, and we think that if Forest reach £25m or thereabouts, Caoimhin should be allowed to go.
The 25-year-old’s value is as high as it’s ever going to be now after an excellent season at Liverpool. Virgil van Dijk called Kelleher ‘world class‘ for his performances and he could well be.
The Ireland international will have one year left on his deal next summer and after another season of sitting on the bench – and Giorgi Mamardashvili coming in – his value will plummet. If the asking price is met, let Caoimhin go.
