Barcelona have submitted a bid to try and sign ‘talented’ Liverpool player

Liverpool’s transfer business has finally sprung into life with just days of the window left.

The Reds stayed quiet for much of the summer, as they allowed Arne Slot to assess the players at his disposal.

However, with the head coach having now had the chance to run the rule over his first-team squad, he has begun making some big decisions.

Plenty of those have had to do with what is happening to Liverpool’s raft of exciting young players.

And as the clock quickly ticks down on the summer, Barcelona have just given Slot another big call to make.

Barcelona make Stefan Bajcetic offer

Liverpool’s young players showed themselves fairly well during pre-season under Slot.

Trey Nyoni was perhaps the standout, but there were a number of talents who must have caught the Dutchman’s eye.

Others, unfortunately did not. Big things have been planned at Liverpool for Stefan Bajcetic. The Spaniard is indeed an excellent prospect.

However, Slot suggested that he was not that impressed with Bajcetic after Liverpool faced Real Betis and it was subsequently reported that Bajcetic is up for loan.

Since then, the 19-year-old has seemingly had a lot of interest. It had looked as though he was heading to Austria after Liverpool agreed to send Bajcetic on loan to RB Salzburg.

But according to journalist Fabrizio Romano, that may now be in doubt. Taking to X on Wednesday afternoon, the journalist reported that Barcelona have made a late swoop with a hefty loan fee.

“Barcelona submit straight loan proposal to Liverpool for talented midfielder Stefan Bajcetic!” says Romano.

“More exclusive details: loan bid worth €4m fee, NO buy clause. After loan bid from RB Salzburg on Tuesday, now Barca try to make it happen after Bernal injury.”

Where should Stefan Bajcetic go?

This is a really interesting update from Romano and just goes to show how highly rated Bajcetic is.

In fact, the bid from Barca should perhaps make Liverpool re-evaluate if they should possibly keep him as part of their squad after all.

If he is to go, though, it really is a difficult one to weigh up. On the one hand, the experience Bajcetic would get playing with top players at Barcelona would be priceless.

On the other, he’s unlikely to play as much football and would not get the guiding hand of Pep Lijnders at Slazburg.

Going by the Liverpool playbook, we’d imagine that Salzburg would be the way forward, but Barca have certainly given the Reds something to think about here.
