Liverpool and Chelsea have had completely different transfer windows under Arne Slot and Enzo Maresca respectively.
Slot has largely focused on outgoings this summer, with long-serving defender Joe Gomez potentially next to leave Liverpool.
Liverpool failed to sign Martin Zubimendi, leaving Slot with no new signings for his first competitive match.
But it didn’t matter, with Diogo Jota and Mohamed Salah helping Liverpool defeat Ipswich Town 2-0 at Portman Road.
They sit joint-top of the Premier League with a long list of clubs, including defending champions Manchester City.

Liverpool icon Jamie Carragher makes Pedro Neto claim
Pep Guardiola’s men defeated Chelsea 2-0 at Stamford Bridge, despite the Blues having signed several new players for huge money.
One new face in West London is winger Pedro Neto, with Jamie Carragher naming the attacker as the impact signing of the window, having wished he joined Liverpool instead of Chelsea.

“The reason I have chosen because I think, but for injuries, I think this is a player that could play for the best teams in the world,” Carragher said on Sky Sports Premier League (10.57pm, 19 August).
“I really do believe that. And he is a player I have always watched for Wolves in the sort of last three or four years, and I have always thought I would love Liverpool to sign him. I just look at the pace and the quality on the ball, he scores goals, and I hope he stays fit.”
Pedro Neto would have been warmly welcomed at Liverpool
Neto joined Maresca at Chelsea earlier this summer after a lengthy spell at Wolves, joining the Blues for £54million.
In another major overhaul at Stamford Bridge, the winger represented their 11th signing of the summer transfer window.

He has lit up the Premier League in recent seasons when given the chance, with injuries sadly limiting his game time.
But Neto is currently fit, and appeared from the bench in the season opener against the defending champions.
Liverpool fans would have undoubtedly welcomed him at Anfield, but at the same time they will be satisfied with having the likes of fellow wingers Salah and Luis Diaz among their ranks.
Unlike Chelsea, however, the powers that be at the Merseyside club are very unlikely to spend such money, unless they feel the player can really make a significant impact at Anfield.
