Liverpool supporters will have to wait another week before seeing Arne Slot take charge of a competitive game at Anfield.
Reds fans have already been given chance to welcome their new boss this summer, with Liverpool playing Sevilla on Merseyside last weekend.
But with the sun beating down and something of a family feel within the stadium, it was not exactly a vintage Anfield atmosphere.
Slot is unlikely to have minded that, with full focus on how his Liverpool team impressively dismantled Sevilla on the day.
After perfecting that performance on the pitches of the AXA Training Centre in the days since the Reds will hope for three points on the road to welcome their new head coach this weekend. Beyond that, it’s clear that Slot can’t wait to get going on home turf.
Arne Slot reveals Anfield conversations
Saturday will be a completely new experience for Slot. Throughout his playing career, the former midfielder only ever played in his native Netherlands.
That has extended to his time as a manager up until this point and although Slot has coached in European competition, he obviously has never done so while in charge of an overseas club.
Although it will no doubt take some getting used to for the 45-year-old, it’s safe to say he has taken it in his stride so far.
Jamie Carragher has urged Slot to be himself as he follows Jurgen Klopp and he really seems to be putting that into practice.

Part of the reason for that is perhaps due to some similarities between his new club and his former one, Feyenoord.
Speaking during an interview with TNT Sports ahead of Saturday’s big Premier League kick-off, Slot drew some comparisons between Feyenoord fans and their stadium, De Kuip, and his new supporter base at Anfield.
“They are both beautiful stadiums, always the fans are so loud,” raves the coach. “If you go in Holland and ask which is the best stadium to play in, everyone will tell you it’s the Feyenoord stadium.
“And from what people have told me here, the same answer you get if you ask here in England. Everyone will say, ‘the fans in Liverpool are the loudest.'”
When is Liverpool’s next game at Anfield?
On Saturday, Liverpool face their fourth consecutive season with an away game on opening day.
The Reds have only won one of their previous three attempts, with tough draws away at Fulham and then Chelsea hopefully being wiped away this weekend at Ipswich.
After that, Liverpool fans will truly welcome Slot to their home patch next Sunday, August the 25th. Brentford are in town and the Reds will hopefully be aiming for two wins out of two.
Under Klopp, Liverpool’s record at Anfield was absolutely unbelievable. They barely lost there over the last six years of his reign in particular.
If Slot can harness that same power and get his team going in a similar way, he’ll be halfway on the road to success already.
