Why ‘sensational’ player wants to join Man Utd over Liverpool this summer

Liverpool have reportedly discovered why they’re now set to miss out on a rumoured transfer target to Manchester United this summer.

The Red Devils have a history in recent windows in beating the Reds to targets, with United signing Leny Yoro this summer, as Liverpool continue to look for their first new addition of the summer transfer window.

With United also beating Liverpool to Mason Mount last year, the Anfield side are experiencing first hand some embarrassment in the market when it comes to losing out on key targets, given how poor their English rivals have been in recent years.

And Liverpool now look set to miss out on another target to United for one key reason.

Manchester United set to beat Liverpool for Adrien Rabiot over wages

According to TeamTalk, United are in positive talks to sign Adrien Rabiot this summer, with the midfielder keen to secure a pay package greater than that of star player Casemiro, as well as Jadon Sancho.

With Rabiot rejecting an offer from Liverpool, all signs point towards the French international signing for United this summer, making the midfielder the second player to choose Old Trafford over Anfield.

Praised by commentator T.N. Raghu as ‘sensational’ during the 2022 FIFA World Cup, Rabiot would have fit a useful void for Liverpool this summer after the departure and retirement of Spanish midfielder Thiago Alcantara.

Yet with United pushing hard to sign Rabiot, Liverpool will have to return to the drawing board for new ideas on which midfielder to recruit, with time slowly running out for the Reds ahead of the new Premier League season.

Liverpool need to be smart with who they sign this summer

It’s been quite a slow summer for Liverpool despite all the changes happening behind the scenes and on the touchline, with the Reds still not looking likely to make any big moves for anyone in the market.

And with Rabiot closing in on a move to United, Liverpool need to rethink some of their targets if Arne Slot is to improve on his squad via signings in the transfer window.

Indeed, the Dutch coach is no stranger to making left-field signings and using limited resources to build a squad as seen during his successful years at Feyenoord, and Slot will need to dig deep if he’s to bring in needed additions for Liverpool this summer.
