Fabrizio Romano suggests Liverpool have no chance of signing ‘world-class’ target this summer after links

Fabrizio Romano has said that Liverpool have zero hope of signing a rumoured target this summer despite recent what’s been said in reports.

The Reds are gearing up to finally make some moves in the transfer market, with winger Ben Doak linked with a loan move away from Liverpool, as the Anfield side continue to be linked with a move for Turkish talent Baris Alper Yilmaz.

Another player Liverpool have been linked with this summer is Real Madrid wonderkid Arda Guler, who became an international household name in recent months after his incredible performances for Turkey at Euro 2024.

Yet it appears that Liverpool’s hopes of signing the youngster are now basically zilch.

Real Madrid not willing to sell Liverpool-linked Arda Guler this summer

According to Romano on Twitter, Madrid are unwilling to let Guler leave this summer, with reports recently suggesting that the winger could depart the Spanish giants, having failed to fully break into Carlo Ancelotti’s first-team plans.

Romano posted: “Recent links between Arda Guler and loan move to Bayer Leverkusen are wide of mark. Arda, key part of Real Madrid plans and not available on loan. He’s only focused on Real Madrid now.”

A player who has been lauded for having ‘world-class’ potential, Guler could have been an ideal signing for Liverpool this summer, with Arne Slot seemingly keen on bringing in an extra attacker to compete with the likes of Luis Diaz and Diogo Jota.

Yet with Madrid making their statement on Guler now known, the Reds will have to explore other options, with the Turkish international a player who could have been exceptional at Anfield had a move come to fruition this summer.

Liverpool can afford to be patient in trying to sign Guler

At 19-years-old, Guler is very much at the start of his career with Madrid and Turkey, with the past 12 months being a rollercoaster for the youngster having won the UEFA Champions League and starred at Euro 2024.

Yet for Liverpool, the Reds can afford to be patient in their pursuit to eventually sign Guler, who is still only a teenager and is yet to establish himself as a regular for Madrid one year after joining from Fenerbahce.

Indeed, Liverpool, and many other teams across Europe, will not have lost hope on signing Guler just yet, and in a year or two, there’s a real chance that the winger could become available if Madrid fail to give the Turkish wonderkid what he wants.
