Liverpool are reportedly closing in on their first signing of the summer transfer window, with the Reds set to land one of the most exciting talents in Europe.
It’s been a very quiet market for the Reds since the end of the Premier League season, with Liverpool yet to offload a single senior player for a transfer fee as Arne Slot has also not pulled the trigger just yet on making a major signing.
Whilst there have been links to the likes of Goncalo Inacio and Nico Williams in recent days, Liverpool haven’t felt close to making a big signing yet this summer, with the senior squad set to fly out to the United States this week.
Yet that could be all about to change this week.

Liverpool closing in in £55m deal to sign Real Sociedad star Takefusa Kubo
According to Japanese publication Sponichi, Liverpool are in the final stages of completing the signing of Real Sociedad winger Takefusa Kubo, with a deal worth £55m set to be completed between the two parties.
Lauded by FC Barcelona legend Xavi Hernandez as a ‘world-class’ player, Kubo has forged quite a reputation for himself in Spain with Sociedad, with the forward last season scoring seven goals and bagging five assists in all competitions.
A versatile winger who favours playing out on the right, Kubo is often regarded as one of the most exciting players in La Liga and a forward who is viewed in Japan as the present and future of the national team.
And for Liverpool, Kubo could become the Anfield side’s next attacking superstar, with the 23-year-old a different yet exciting option as a replacement for Mohamed Salah in the years to come.

Kubo signing hints at a new direction in Liverpool’s future attack
Kubo isn’t what you’d think of when it comes to a modern attacking winger, with the Sociedad star a forward who often drops back to defend and to help out fullbacks.
And the arrival of Kubo to Liverpool could hint at a new direction the Reds are taking in when it comes to the future of the attack, with Salah potentially heading into his final year with the Merseyside giants.
Indeed, if a direct left-winger such as Williams is also signed, Liverpool’s frontline could be sorted for the next few years, with Darwin Nunez or Cody Gakpo spearheading the attack in what would be an exciting trio.
