Liverpool have been in no rush to get new signings through the door this summer.
The Reds are currently undergoing a period of transition at the club following Jurgen Klopp’s exit at the end of the season.
Arne Slot has been working with the available Liverpool squad for the past week-and-a-half and Slot has been impressed with what he’s seen.
As a result, some fans may be starting to suspect that the Reds will head into the new season without a single new signing for the first-team. It’s happened before at Liverpool.
There’s still a good chunk left of the summer, though. And according to the German press, the Reds are still active in bringing potential targets to Anfield.

Liverpool interested in Mohamed Simakan signing
For plenty of Liverpool fans, a new centre-back should be the priority for FSG this summer. Joel Matip’s exit has left them one short.
Leny Yoro has been Liverpool’s primary target so far, but the Frenchman looks set to slip from their grasp and join either Real Madrid or Manchester United.
Yoro has not been the only one linked, though. Liverpool have seemingly been casting their net far and wide.
Having assessed what’s out there, the Reds have reportedly landed on a familiar port of call: RB Leipzig. They do love a signing from Leipzig and apparently there could now be another one, with Liverpool interested in Mohamed Simakan.

Simakan is reportedly on the radar for Slot, Richard Hughes and co as they weigh up what to do in the remainder of the summer.
And according to German journalist Philipp Hinze on X, the 24-year-old could be available for a relatively low sum.
“We hear from England and Spain that LFC and Atleti [Madrid] have expressed interest in Mo Simakan,” says Hinze. “No concrete negotiations, no offers – but there is interest. Possible sale price: €40m-€45m [£34-38m].
“Simakan can imagine a transfer but is also not unhappy in Leipzig. He is focused on the new season. RB Leipzig is planning with the Frenchman.”
Why Liverpool should sign Mohamed Simakan
On paper, Simakan would look like a virtually perfect signing for Liverpool. He ticks all of the boxes we’ve come to know them to look for.
At 24, Simakan is well developed, but has plenty of time ahead of him to get even better. He has a good fitness record having played 42 games last season and 120 across three campaigns at Leipzig.
The former France U21 international also has Champions League experience, is available for a good price and can play at right-back, too.
In fact, according to bundesliga.com, Simakan is actually ‘comfortable’ at full-back, at centre-back in a three or a four and even in midfield. With ‘pace and power’ they claim that the Leipzig man has earned comparisons to France World Cup winner Lillian Thuram.
Simakan was brought to the Red Bull Arena as a replacement for Ibrahima Konate in 2021. Perhaps he could now end up partnering his French colleague with Liverpool. We’ve heard worse ideas.
