Euro 2024 has turned into a fairly productive tournament for Liverpool players.
Although the early stages of the competition led to disappointment for some, six players remain in contention to lift the trophy.
Cody Gakpo in particular has had an exceptional time of it with the Netherlands. Even Arne Slot raved about Gakpo having seen his countryman’s fantastic performances in Germany.
As well as Gakpo, Trent Alexander-Arnold and Virgil van Dijk have reason to be pleased with themselves. The three players will face off on Wednesday as England take on the Dutch for a place in the final.
It has not been quite so smooth a ride for some of their Anfield teammates, though. And now, one former Liverpool man looks set to benefit from a disappointing campaign for his nation.

Craig Bellamy set for Wales manager job
One reason Euro 2024 has been notable has been for the youthfulness of some of the coaches involved.
Usually seen as a game for older managers close to retirement, that notion appears to be changing. 36-year-old Julian Nagelsmann and 38-year-old Domenico Tedesco are proof of that.
With Wales having failed miserably in their own quest to compete at this summer’s tournament, they are now looking to make a change of their own and go with a younger coach.
Having had something of a golden generation of players, Wales should really have qualified for Euro 2024. However, having lost on penalties in a qualifier against Poland, their dreams were crushed.

Following that failure, Rob Page was sacked in in June. And according to BBC Sport, the Welsh have now chosen former Liverpool striker Craig Bellamy to succeed him.
They claim that Bellamy is on the verge of being named as his country’s new leader and will leave Burnley, where he is currently a first-team coach.
The 44-year-old was reportedly part of a shortlist which included Arsenal legend Thierry Henry, as well as Henry’s former France teammate and current Georgia boss Willy Sagnol.
Claimed to have ‘impressed’ during the interview process though, Bellamy is said to have won the day.
Craig Bellamy gets his chance
Bellamy was a fiery and aggressive forward during his playing career. He scored 18 goals in 78 appearances across to separate spells at Liverpool.
Having retired in 2014, the Welshman has slowly been building himself a reputation in the coaching world.
Up until this point, Bellamy has been joined at the hip with his former Man City teammate Vincent Kompany.
Having been the Belgian’s assistant at both Anderlecht and Burnley, there were rumours that Bellamy could follow Kompany to Bayern Munich this summer.
However, the former striker ultimately stayed put, biding his time and waiting for the right opportunity to become the main man instead.
With that now set to fall into his lap, hopefully Bellamy can turn fortunes around for Wales.
