Liverpool continue to be linked with a summer transfer window move for Bologna star Riccardo Calafiori.
After a superb season in Serie A, where Champions League qualification was secured, the centre-back has just suffered heartache with Italy at Euro 2024.
The 22-year-old played every minute of his nation’s three group matches in Germany, helping them reach the last 16.
But it was by no means an easy ride, with Calafiori scoring an own goal and picking up two yellow cards in the three games.
The latter issue meant he was suspended for the knockout encounter with Switzerland, which Italy lost 2-0.

Their exit does, however, mean that the centre-back can focus on his club career once more, with Liverpool having already enquired about the player.
La Gazzetta dello Sport has now issued an update on exactly how much Bologna want for their star man, with the Italian club not taking offers lower than €40million (£34million) into consideration.

The report added that the Serie A outfit have ‘clear ideas’ regarding Calafiori, who made 37 appearances in all competitions last season.
Liverpool should make a move for the Euro 2024 defender
New Liverpool sporting director Richard Hughes should be hard at work trying to bring new faces to Anfield this summer.
And Calafiori may just be at the very top of his list given that Hughes had been scouting the defender during his technical director role at previous club Bournemouth.

The left-footed centre-back would be a very welcome addition to the Reds, particularly given that Joel Matip has left Anfield.
Jarell Quansah meanwhile has impressed but remains inexperienced at this stage of his career, while it remains to be seen just how reliable Joe Gomez and Ibrahima Konate can be against the top clubs.
Captain fantastic Virgil van Dijk could, therefore, do with a new central defensive partner, one who importantly could allow the Netherlands star to move onto the right-hand side.
