Liverpool supporters may be in for a few surprise transfers this summer, one of which involves Anthony Gordon.
The surprise comes given that the Newcastle United winger used to play for the club’s fierce rivals Everton.
Moreover, he is currently on international duty with England, forming part of Gareth Southgate’s squad for Euro 2024.
But that hasn’t stopped Gordon from being linked with a switch to Liverpool, with the winger open to the move.
One route that the Reds could go down to secure his services is a cash-plus-player deal, with Caoimhin Kelleher plus £50million being considered.

What senior Liverpool figures think about Anthony Gordon deal
The initial option did, however, involve Jarell Quansah moving to St James’ Park, with Liverpool turning down that proposal.
The stance of senior Anfield figures regarding that deal has now been made clear, with such figures not believing it was worthy of consideration, according to The Athletic.

The publication added that the Merseyside club admire Gordon but they already have strength in depth on the left side of their attack, while they also believe Newcastle’s valuation of the player was excessive.
Moreover, Reds chiefs simply do not want to sanction Quansah’s exit this summer after his impressive breakthrough season.
Would Anthony Gordon be welcome at Liverpool?
There is plenty of pressure on the shoulders of any player arriving at Liverpool, but there would be extra pressure on Gordon given his past.
He progressed through Everton’s academy before spending six years in the first team, where he often came up against the Reds in the Merseyside Derby.

A move to Newcastle was secured in January 2023, with Gordon certainly making his mark against the Reds with a goal in their first Premier League clash last season.
The player finally realised his potential last time out, registering tallies of 12 goals and 11 assists under Eddie Howe, helping him land an England spot at Euro 2024.
Gordon’s disciplinary record is, however, a black mark against him, with the winger picking up 12 yellow cards last season.
There is undoubtedly plenty more to come from the 23-year-old, both at club and international level, with the attacker playing just one minute at Euro 2024 so far.
