Liverpool are in a precarious position with a number of contracts at the club.
Having not had a full-time sporting director in place for over a year, things have been on the slide a little in the contract department.
FSG’s failure to hand vice-captain Trent Alexander-Arnold an extension could yet prove disastrous with just 12 months left to go on his current deal.
As well as Alexander-Arnold, key players Virgil van Dijk and Mohamed Salah are also contracted to just one more year at Anfield.
Alan Shearer has described the situation as being ‘dangerous‘ for Liverpool and they need to get moving on it soon. But there’s also one more deal running down for the Reds, and he could reportedly now take his chance to leave.

Adrian could turn down Liverpool contract
So far, it doesn’t appear as though any of Alexander-Arnold, Van Dijk or Salah have been offered concrete contracts by Liverpool.
Hopefully that will soon change. With Richard Hughes now beginning his term as sporting director there’s finally some stability back in that area.
Hughes has already sorted out an offer for one member of the Liverpool squad, though.
As per liverpoolfc.com third-choice goalkeeper Adrian has been offered an extension to his deal, which expires this summer.

However, it isn’t a given that the 37-year-old re-signs. Adrian has previously stated a desire to return to Spain. And according to Mundo Deportivo, that’s where he could now go.
They claim that although the goalie has an offer on the table from Liverpool, he may now decide to ‘put it aside.’
Instead, Adrian has reportedly been speaking to Real Betis about becoming their own third-choice ‘keeper.
The veteran is claimed to be ‘delighted’ about the prospect of returning to Betis, for whom he made 32 appearances for after coming through the youth team.
Liverpool know their perfect Adrian replacement
Although he isn’t exactly a key man for Liverpool, it would be a shame for the Reds to lose Adrian this summer.
There already feels to be a fair bit to do for Arne Slot in the transfer market. Adding the signing of a third-choice ‘keeper to that feels like an unnecessary extra.
Nevertheless, it also feels like things could line up here. For Adrian it would be full circle. You get the impression he’s happy at Liverpool but Seville is his home city, Betis is his club.
A return home to finish his career will perhaps prove too enchanting for Adrian. He’s done his bit for Liverpool, with Gary Lineker describing him as ‘unbelievable‘ during the title-winning campaign.
In turn, Liverpool could perhaps look to bring back one of their own. Pepe Reina has recently announced that he’s looking for a club to write the final chapter of his own career.
If Adrian does decide to leave, then bringing Reina back to Anfield would feel like a no-brainer. Should the Super Cup winning goalkeeper stay with the Reds though, we’d be fine with that too. Let’s get this sorted either way.
