Liverpool are preparing to step up their plans for the summer transfer market.
Having seen the dust settle on Jurgen Klopp’s emotional exit, the Reds are now completely in future-mode.
Arne Slot is due to arrive over the next week or so and with signings expected to be targeted for pre-season in July, there’s work to be done.
By the sounds of things Liverpool are certainly busy. As usual for this time of year, transfer rumours have been going into overdrive ahead of the window opening.
One of those most heavily linked with joining Slot at Anfield has been Lille defender Leny Yoro. And bright and early on Monday morning, Fabrizio Romano has the latest on Liverpool’s interest.

Fabrizio Romano offers Leny Yoro transfer update
There’s little wonder Liverpool are interested in Yoro. The Reds are reportedly targeting a centre-back as a priority this summer.
And having just played a full season in the Lille first-team at 18, Yoro is one of the most impressive young defenders in Europe.
Naturally, this has alerted most of the continent’s top sides. As journalist Graeme Bailey exclusively told Rousing The Kop over the weekend, Liverpool have a mind that Yoro may be heading to Real Madrid.
However, writing in his Daily Briefing on Monday, Romano says that while Madrid – and PSG – are ‘in the race,’ so are Liverpool.
“As I’ve mentioned previously, Paris Saint-Germain and Real Madrid are absolutely in the race for Yoro,” says the journalist.
“It’s also the case that Liverpool have been scouting him, but at the moment the situation is really based on what kind of price Lille will ask for – all clubs are basically waiting for that.
“Liverpool could strengthen at centre-back this summer, as I’ve reported before, but let’s see if this scouting and monitoring of Yoro turns into anything more concrete. For now, it’s just normal scouting of a top talent, and my understanding is that PSG and Real Madrid are very much in the race for his signature.”
How much Leny Yoro could cost Liverpool
If you’re going up against PSG and Real Madrid for a player, the chances are you’re usually losing.
Both clubs will have a massive pull for a young French player like Yoro and have the financial muscle to outmanoeuvre most other sides.

Certainly, if the cost of signing the Lille defender were to be as high as has previously been reported, Liverpool might be struggling. There have been claims that Yoro could demand a price-tag of £76m. For that money, you couldn’t really imagine the Reds getting involved.
However, hope remains in the fact that Yoro has just one year left on his contract. Impressive though he may be, there’s surely only so high Lille can go with that arm tied behind their back.
Should the price become more reasonable, Liverpool look ready to be there. Let’s wait and see what the demands are.
