Liverpool have now been told they must pay £76m in order to sign ‘extraordinary’ player

Life goes on for Liverpool. While it’s certain now that next season Jurgen Klopp will not be in charge of the club – there are still targets and plans the Reds must pursue. One of the areas where Liverpool will need investment in is at the back.

The Reds need another centre-back given Joel Matip’s contract expires at the end of the season. And Liverpool’s options are already a little bit threadbare in that department. Given the club is still in the process of rebuilding – this new centre-back should ideally be relatively young.

There have been various named linked with a move to Liverpool with that profile recently. But one of the most interesting ones is definitely, Leny Yoro. He has some incredible numbers in Europe this season, and looks like a real talent. Yoro has also caught the eye of French legend Thierry Henry, who has dubbed the young defender as ‘extraordinary‘ for what he has done in Ligue 1 so far.

What Liverpool need to pay for Leny Yoro

According to French outlet Le10Sport Liverpool will need to pay in excess of £76m in order to land Yoro’s services. His club Lille are said to be holding out for that figure.

That’s a huge fee, especially considering it would be more than Virgil van Dijk cost Liverpool. Although times are changing and the market has fluctuated a lot, we just can’t see Liverpool paying that kind of figure.

No matter how talented Yoro is. There are better options, equally as exciting, in the market, who would cost potentially half or a significantly smaller figure. And Liverpool will probably go for those options instead as the club has always done. The Reds prefer to operate frugally and make smart acquisitions rather than to spend frivolously on a player who has only played one full season in senior football.
