The perfect centre-back option for Liverpool this summer could be one who Pep Guardiola loves.

Liverpool will want to bring a centre-back to the club this summer. Jarell Quansah has done brilliantly since being promoted to the first team.

However, with Joel Matip likely leaving at the end of his contract, the consensus is that Liverpool will need to add one more option to their squad.

That option doesn’t necessarily need to break the bank. They just need to be a competent centre-back with proven quality and relatively young.

And there’s one player who ticks all of those boxes and he’s available on a free transfer.

Why Tosin Adarabioyo makes sense for Arne Slot at Liverpool

In terms of the profile of centre-backs Arne Slot will be looking to deploy at Liverpool not much will change from Jurgen Klopp’s era.

Slot’s centre-backs need to be aerially dominant and they need to be able to read the game well. They also need to be comfortable on the ball and play a key role in the build-up play.

Out of all the players in Europe’s top five leagues who match this criteria, perhaps the best fit is Tosin Adarabioyo.

Adarabioyo came through the ranks at Manchester City, so he’s composed in possession, and at 1.96 metres, he’s got the height to be very aerially dominant.

Why Tosin Adarabioyo makes sense for Michael Edwards

In the past, Pep Guardiola has explained why he rates Adarabioyo so highly and why he is good enough to play for Manchester City.

This season, Adarabioyo has been performing to really high standards at Fulham. He’s caught the eye against Liverpool and has solid numbers in the Premier League.

Given the fact that his contract expires at the end of the season, making him a free agent, a move to Liverpool would just make sense. Especially with Michael Edwards at the helm, who was renowned for picking up such bargains during his first stint at the club.
