It has been a season of many emotions for Liverpool.
At the start of the campaign, did many expect Jurgen Klopp’s side to challenge for the Premier League title? Probably not.
Mainly because of the changes Liverpool were going through, especially in the middle of the park and the departures of some senior figures.
But given where the team ended up at one stage of the season, it’s now bitterly disappointing that Klopp’s reign won’t end with more than one trophy.
The Reds collapsed at the wrong time of the season and then the Klopp-Mohamed Salah spat just made matters worse.
But Liverpool were back to their goalscoring best when they beat Tottenham 4-2 on Sunday at Anfield.
One man who stole the show and was probably his side’s best player was Harvey Elliott.
Michael Owen lauded the 21-year-old for his ‘stunning’ goal, after he curled it beautifully into the top corner, as he told Premier League Productions (05/05/24 at 6:40 pm).
The former striker added that, whenever the England U21 international is handed a chance to start, he ‘makes a difference’ and also an ‘impact’.
Harvey Elliott is the difference-maker
“It was stunning, wasn’t it? Absolutely stunning,” said Owen about Elliott’s goal. “It was one of those, as soon as he hits it. He knows that it’s going right into the top corner. A lovely strike. He still has a lot to do, dances past one challenge and then strikes it incredibly well.
“It was all about Harvey Elliott. Kop End. He will remember that for a long time and he has been playing particularly well of late. He can make a difference, can’t he? Some of these young players who come in. They are just going to be squad players for the rest of their time. Float in and out of the team.
“However, when he comes on or starts, he makes an impact. Scores goals and provides assists. He has done well during these past few weeks.”

Harvey Elliott should start the final two games
Aston Villa away and Wolves at home. These are the two final games before Klopp heads for the exit door forever.
Given that they are now dead rubbers, or will be by the time they came about, it’s now just about fighting for pride and ensuring their manager ends on a high.

Elliott hasn’t exactly been a regular starter this term, but Klopp needs to make sure he is in the XI for both of his final fixtures.
He has only started nine league matches and you probably feel it should have been more throughout the campaign.
