Liverpool are slowly getting their full squad back together after an injury-plagued few months.
Fortunately, the Reds have managed supremely well without some really key players. However, as Mohamed Salah and Dominik Szoboszlai have shown recently, Liverpool can still go up a notch when big stars return.
One of those to have been sat out since last month is Diogo Jota. The Portugal international suffered a knee injury at Brentford amid some incredible personal form.
With the bit between his teeth when he got injured, Liverpool fans will be itching to see Jota back out there. And according to Jurgen Klopp in today’s pre-Manchester United press conference it won’t be all that long now.
Asked which of his injured players will be in contention to face Brighton after the international break, Klopp name-checked three.
“Curtis [Jones], he replied. “And I think the other two are Diogo and Trent [Alexander-Arnold] for the week after. A chance, yeah.”
Jota nearing injury return
Because of Liverpool’s packed schedule, it actually feels as though Jota has been missing for even longer than he has.
It was February 17th when the 27-year-old was taken off on a stretcher at Brentford. Not all that long ago, really.
But Liverpool have played seven games in the intervening weeks. The calendar has been completely full and it feels like we haven’t seen Diogo for ages.
By the time the timeframe Klopp is projecting comes around, it will have been almost two months that Jota has sat out for. Liverpool’s next game after Brighton is Sheffield United on Thursday, 4th of April. They then visit Old Trafford again three days later.

If the Reds can have Jota and Alexander-Arnold – as well as Jones and Ryan Gravenberch – back fit for then, they’ll be almost at full strength.
The only one we’ll really still be waiting for is Alisson Becker and it’s ominous that Klopp made no mention of the goalkeeper today.
However, with Caoimhin Kelleher in superb form, the Brazilian hasn’t been missed as much as expected anyway. If Kelleher can keep that up then that will remain the case.
And if Liverpool can keep in the position they are right now for when Jota and co come back, the boost they’ll get for the run-in will be massive. Not long now, Reds.
