Liverpool midfielder Dominik Szoboszlai appears to be loving life at the club right now.
The Hungarian blew supporters away having signed from RB Leipzig last summer. Szoboszlai’s displays were even reminiscent of a certain Steven Gerrard.
Since then though, the 23-year-old has tailed off a little. Noticeably tired and having suffered a couple of injury setbacks, it’s clear that Szoboszlai can still go up a level or two.
Still right at the start of his career at the club, it’s obvious that he will. And according to the man himself during the pre-Sparta Prague press conference today, Szoboszlai will have plenty of time in which to do it. He’s preparing to stay at Liverpool for ‘many more years.’
“I had a player in the national team, Peter Gulacsi, who played here before and he talked to me about the things here, how it works, what’s different from here to Germany, to Austria, so I could prepare myself for how it’s going to work,” he said when asked if anything had ‘surprised’ him about Liverpool.
“I’m happy to be here and hopefully for many more years.”
Szoboszlai planning Liverpool stay
Having only just arrived at Liverpool, there shouldn’t be too many questions over Szoboszlai’s future right now.
Nevertheless, back home in Hungary, there were one or two murmurings following Jurgen Klopp’s announcement that he’s to leave at the end of the season.
Firstly, the player’s agent suggested that Klopp’s exit had ‘created a situation’ at the club. However, there was no suggestion that it would affect Dom’s future.
Then, the Hungary national team manager, Marco Rossi actually claimed that Szoboszlai should be playing at a ‘higher level.’

Now, maybe we’re biased, but we’re not sure how much higher it can go than Liverpool. In European football, you’re picking from perhaps two or three clubs. Arguably.
Thankfully, Szoboszlai appears to recognise that regardless of what his national team manager may think.
He’s just getting started at Liverpool, why would he need to change things. Of course, Klopp leaving can shift the landscape, but whoever’s coming in will be a top, top manager regardless.
And whoever is coming in can seemingly rest easy knowing that they can count on the best years of Szoboszlai.
