It’s now official. Michael Edwards has returned to Liverpool. More precisely FSG as the group’s head of football operations. It’s an exciting new role and and exciting new period for Liverpool.
What it entails fully no one quite knows yet. But it’s clear FSG are making steps in the right direction to continue to develop the club, and put it in the best shape possible. That may also involve the acquisition of another club, where Liverpool could attract global talents from all over the world. This is something Edwards confirmed himself in the statement he made announcing his return to FSG.
Undoubtedly, one of the biggest questions that remains for Liverpool though is who the club’s new manager will be. Jurgen Klopp made his decision to leave the Reds at the end of the season. Currently Liverpool do not know will replace him at the helm.

Don Hutchinson on what Edwards must do now
According to former Liverpool player Don Hutchinson, the next step for Michael Edwards should now be to sit down with Jurgen Klopp, and try to convince him to stay while also promising him the signing of two of three big names. Hutchinson shared his views on his social media account below.
While we would love to see this happen, unfortunately Klopp’s mind seems pretty made-up. He is tired and exhausted from the game, and desperately needs a rest. Even if Edwards sat down with him we think Klopp’s answer would remain the same.
For Liverpool, the club must accept that it needs to step in a new direction. Somebody else will need to succeed Klopp’s throne. And the best man is now in charge overseeing that operation in Edwards.
