Liverpool might have another Caoimhin Kelleher coming through, and last weekend was proof

If there is one thing Liverpool are known for it’s their ability to develop top level goalkeepers. Caoimhin Kelleher is living proof of that. But he isn’t alone. The likes of Peter Gulacsi and Kamil Grabara have also been products of Liverpool’s academy in the last ten years.

The former has been one of the best goalkeepers in the Bundesliga over the last few years. Meanwhile, Grabara is also set to join him in Germany’s top flight this summer after impressive performances with FC Copenhagen in the Champions League.

There are also talented players at Liverpool’s academy right now. Including Vitezslav Jaros, who has been making great progress while on loan at Sturm Graz in the second half of the season. At 22-years-old he is still very much highly regarded by the club.

He isn’t the only talented goalkeeper coming through the ranks though. Kornel Misciur was included in Liverpool’s first team squad as a third choice goalkeeper against Manchester City. Meanwhile, another talented goalkeeper excelled for the club’s U21 team.

What Fabian Mrozek did at the weekend

Fabian Mrozek is another highly rated academy goalkeeper. He has been involved in a few first team squads already this season, and is very much on the first team radar.

Only 20-years-old, Mrozek has made over 50 appearances at youth level since arriving at Liverpool in 2020. He is a Polish youth international, having recently represented the country’s national team at U20 level.

This weekend Mrozek also demonstrated his quality in a game against Reading’s U21 side in the Premier League 2. Liverpool conceded a penalty in added time with the game at 0-0. It was about to be a golden opportunity for Reading to win the game and seal all three points. But Mrozek had other ideas. He stepped up and saved Jahmari Clarke’s penalty to salvage a point for Liverpool.

It was a decisive moment for the young goalkeeper, and proof of his exciting potential. He is very much another young goalkeeper who could follow in Kelleher’s footsteps at Liverpool.
