Former Liverpool forward’s son just emulated Darwin Nunez’s Nottingham Forest goal

Cometh the man, cometh the hour. That is how Darwin Nunez announced himself against Nottingham Forest last weekend. His 99th minute winner was yet another special moment for Liverpool in the title race.

Nunez followed that up with two sublime strikes against Sparta Prague, in what was a perfect week for the Uruguayan. And the perfect way to lead up to Liverpool’s biggest game of the season against Manchester City.

Nunez is the man for the big occasions. He’s got a habit of scoring goals in stoppage time. This was not his first stoppage time winner this season – having also scored one against Newcastle United earlier on in the campaign.

But while Nunez is scoring stoppage time winners for Liverpool, another former player’s son is doing that elsewhere. Very much emulating the Uruguayan.

Lazar Jovanovic emulating Darwin Nunez

Over the last few weeks, we have seen a few former professional players’ children make their mark for Liverpool. From Jayden Danns to Bobby Clark and Lewis Koumas. However, now there is a former Liverpool player’s son making his name at another club.

Milan Jovanovic may not have made huge impact during his time at Anfield. However, the mere fact that he made to Liverpool is an achievement in itself. Now his son Lazar is following in his footsteps in Serbian football.

Lazar Jovanovic currently plays for Vojvodina. He’s come through the ranks at one of the best academies in Serbia, that has produced the likes of Sergej Milinkovic-Savic and Dusan Tadic, among others.

At just 17-years-old, Lazar is regarded as the next big thing at the club. He has 12 goal contributions in 12 games for the club’s U19 side, and scored 17 goals in 30 games for the club’s U17 team.

Meanwhile, on Friday night, he emulated Nunez’s moment against Nottingham Forest by scoring a 97th minute winner for Vojvodina’s first team against Vozdovac – his first goal in senior football.

Already a Serbian U17 and U18 international, Lazar Jovanovic is clearly very highly rated. With moments like that he is definitely someone to keep an eye on.
