There’s a lot of debates and discussions about who Liverpool’s next manager should be. Xabi Alonso is the firm favourite right now. But he isn’t the only candidate on Liverpool’s radar.
Sure, Alonso has done a superb job. His Leverkusen side are playing brilliant football. And not only that, but they are also getting results. Currently, Leverkusen are the only unbeaten side in Europe’s top five leagues.
However, Liverpool shouldn’t have tunnel vision on Alonso just yet. There is no guarantee the 42-year-old Spaniard would be willing to take the Liverpool job. He will also have other suitors. There are also other potential candidates for Liverpool to explore as well.
One of those is someone whose style of play Trent Alexander-Arnold has also praised recently.

Trent Alexander-Arnold admits he has been impressed by Roberto De Zerbi’s Brighton
44-year-old Roberto De Zerbi has been someone who has also been linked with the Liverpool job. The Brighton manager has done a great job in the Premier League since arriving at the club. Now speaking to Four Four Two, Alexander-Arnold was asked which team he has been impressed by the most this season.
And he named De Zerbi’s Brighton as the team he has enjoyed watching the most. While also praising De Zerbi’s style of play.
“I think probably the most interesting team over the last year or two in the Premier League has been Brighton,” Alexander-Arnold said.
“So, I would say Brighton are the one when I’m able to watch one of their games it’s always entertaining. It’s always free flowing football. The way that they build-up and play out from the back is exceptional, really brave. And I think yeah I would say Brighton’s been the one.”
The Liverpool defender also admitted it’s very difficult to play against De Zerbi’s side.
“It’s an absolute nightmare to play against [Brighton]. It’s a very, very difficult game.”
This is really interesting comments from Liverpool’s vice captain. Right now the fanbase isn’t really sold on De Zerbi. However, based on what Alexander-Arnold has said, he may have won a few more people over.
There is no denying Brighton play exciting attacking football. Even if results haven’t gone quite according to plan recently, De Zerbi has still done a fantastic job. He cannot be ruled out as a potential successor to Jurgen Klopp’s throne.
