Liverpool’s encounters with Arsenal have brought mixed emotions to Reds supporters. The first game at Anfield, was a missed an opportunity. Especially, after a blatant Martin Odegaard handball was never awarded as a penalty.
But then the second game in the FA Cup brought pure elation. Liverpool managed to knock Arsenal out of the competition, without the likes of Mohamed Salah, who was away at the African Cup of Nations. On top of that, they managed to do it in Arsenal’s own backyard at the Emirates.
Perhaps that lulled Liverpool into a false sense of security for the following game at Arsenal in the Premier League a few weeks later. Or maybe it spurred Arsenal on for revenge. Whatever the reason, the fact is Liverpool want to forget about that match for a long while. And they will hope that it’s not something they will rue come the end of the season.
All in all, these last few games between the Gunners and the Reds has definitely offered entertainment. And the records seemed to reflect that as well. With the first game between the two sides breaking a US record according to a recent report.

Liverpool and Arsenal broke a US record
According to a report from The Athletic, Liverpool’s first game against Arsenal was the most watched Premier League game in US history. The broadcast reached a total of 1.96million viewers across traditional TV channels such as NBC plus its Peacock and NBC Sports digital platforms. There was also an additional 328,000 people tuning in on Telemundo’s Spanish language broadcast.
This is a very encouraging report. It’s a sign of Liverpool’s influence in the US. Traditionally, the likes of Manchester United and Arsenal have been among the most popular clubs among US audiences. However, under FSG, Liverpool’s influence has definitely increased in America.
The Reds are now almost regularly visiting the US during pre-season to play in front of tens of thousands of fans in friendly matches. And it seems like they are now also captivating US audiences on the Television screens as well.
