Uruguayan forwards just seem to work well for Liverpool. First it was Luis Suarez absolutely dazzling the club’s fans with his skills. Now It’s Darwin Nunez, being the fan favourite, and scoring important goals for Liverpool.

His latest was a very important winner against Nottingham Forest. A goal that will live in long in the memory having come so late into the game. It’s also another important goal that the Uruguayan has scored for Liverpool this season.

In total, Nunez now has six match winning goals for Liverpool in all competitions. Including five in the Premier League, which is the joint highest in the competition. It also equates to 50% of the goals he has scored for Liverpool in the Premier League this season.

Nunez is simply special, and he is very much carrying on Luis Suarez’s legacy at the club.

Suarez also enjoyed a special night for himself on Saturday. Lining up for Inter Miami in his first game in the MLS, the Uruguayan made four goal contributions in a special 5-0 victory for his new side. He’s clearly still going strong even though he is 37-years-old now.

Speaking after the game, the Uruguayan was also asked by reporters about Darwin Nunez. And Suarez revealed his delight for his compatriot. He also described him as one of the best strikers in world football at the moment.

“Yes I saw. I am so happy for Liverpool and I am so happy for Darwin. He is one of the best strikers in the world today,” Suarez said as per Miami Total Futbol.

Suarez is right. There are few players in world football right now who can compare to Darwin Nunez. He is simply sensational, and given his form this season he has to be up there among the best in the world. There are few players this season who are averaging a goal contribution every 87 minutes.
