Jurgen Klopp has done it again. The Liverpool boss must be pinching himself recently. Time and time again we feel like we are caught up in some sort of idyllic simulation. What the Reds have done in 11 days, in such a short space of time, is incredible.

We’ve barely been able to catch our breaths and rest our voices after the jubilant celebrations at Wembley. But then there was another at Anfield. And then another at the City Ground in Nottingham yesterday.

Darwin Nunez’s 99th minute winner will live long in the memory. Especially, since no Liverpool player has scored a goal as late as that since records began. But this wasn’t a game all about Nunez, nor even Alexis Mac Allister who provided a sumptuous assist.

This was about a team effort, and everybody played a key role in that. Including two players who Jurgen Klopp says did something exceptional.

Jurgen Klopp on Wataru Endo and Caoimhin Kelleher

Speaking after the game, Klopp was quick to highlight the contributions from his defensive players as well. After all, Nottingham Forest threatened the Reds on numerous occasions, but with resilient and hard work Liverpool were able to keep them out.

Klopp highlighted both Wataru Endo and Caoimhin Kelleher for their ‘exceptional’ defensive work towards the end of the game.

“We defended that exceptional in the last moment with the four in the back and Caoimh [Kelleher] and Wataru [Endo] from a specific moment on,” Klopp said in his press conference as per Liverpool’s official website.

It’s true the role Kelleher and Endo played cannot be understated. The former was brilliant in between the sticks. Meanwhile, the latter really helped to solidify the midfield at a time when Liverpool were under pressure by turnovers. Not to mention Endo also played a key role in reprising possession for Liverpool before Darwin Nunez’s winner.
