Amid all the late drama, one Liverpool player probably went under the radar against Nottingham Forest yesterday. It was a special day for Bobby Clark making his first start in the Premier League.
Most of the time, a start like that comes at home playing in comfortable surroundings. But for Clark, this came at the hostile City Ground, miles away from Anfield. Yet the 19-year-old was never fazed by the occasion.
One of his first touches saw him nutmeg an opponent, and he just grew into the game more and more. On a couple of occasions, he was unlucky not to score, hitting one shot just over the bar and another getting deflected by Forest.
In the end, it was a solid showing from the young midfielder, and he will be pleased by the performance, and the week that he has had as well.

Bobby Clark on Alexis Mac Allister
In the span of a week, Bobby Clark has won his first major trophy at Wembley. He then registered his first goal contribution for Liverpool against Southampton. And then finished the week with his first start in the Premier League. Not bad.
Speaking to LFCTV, Clark looked over the moon about Liverpool’s victory over Forest. He was also asked about Alexis Mac Allister, and whether he is someone he looks up to. Clark admitted he does, and has been learning a lot from the World Cup winning Argentine midfielder.
“Yes, exactly that,” Clark said. “Everyday, I’m learning of them, especially him in my position. And what he done at the end was special.”
It’s no surprise Clark is looking up to Mac Allister. When it comes to midfield players right now in world football Liverpool’s 25-year-old is probably up there among the very best in the game. The fact that someone like Clark is able to train and learn from him is going to be very useful in his own development.
