There were plenty of players who caught the eye for Liverpool last night. This was a night to savour and remember for Jurgen Klopp’s young Reds. It was a night when they made their dreams come true.
Many people may scoff at Liverpool celebrating a Carabao Cup win so vehemently. But last night was more than just about winning the League Cup. It was about the manner of Liverpool’s victory. The way Klopp’s men were able to overcome the odds to achieve something that were not supposed to do on paper.
After all, this was a Liverpool side weakened by injuries. They had been decimated with more and more players going down in the last few weeks. Their opposition Chelsea on the other hand was made-up of players who had cost the Blues a fortune – a team that had players who Chelsea spent more than one hundred million pounds on.
In contrast, Liverpool had six players play during extra-time who had started five games or less in the Premier League for Liverpool. Three of those six had never started a game in the league for Liverpool.

Conor Bradley on two Liverpool players who impressed him
Liverpool owe a lot to Virgil van Dijk and some of the club’s more senior players as well. They guided the younger players really well throughout the game. Speaking on Liverpool’s official podcast, Conor Bradley revealed he was impressed by both Van Dijk and Ibrahima Konate in the final.
“Yeah, they were unbelievable. Obviously, skip Virgil, the two headers that he scored were brilliant,” Bradley said.
“And then Ibou, he’s so good at the back, so it’s so nice as a right-back to have them behind you, so confident for you.”
Bradley definitely benefitted from having that confidence and those two playing behind him. While playing at right-back he was probably one of the best players on the Wembley turf. He became a little quieter when he was moved further up the pitch to right-wing. But that’s to be expected, he’s not played a lot of minutes in that position.
The level of assurance both Van Dijk and Konate give shouldn’t be underestimated. They give Liverpool’s players so much reassurance by being so reliable and solid at the back.
