Liverpool’s injuries worries deepened on Sunday despite a fantastic win over Chelsea in the Carabao Cup final.
Virgil van Dijk nodded in a late goal to hand a young looking Liverpool side their tenth League Cup victory of all time.
It was a win richly celebrated by the Reds, who had looked second favourites to a talented Chelsea team heading into extra-time. Truly, a superb moment of Jurgen Klopp’s storied reign.
But it wasn’t all good news for Liverpool. Ryan Gravenberch was stretchered off after just half an hour having been on the receiving end of a poor challenge from Moises Caicedo. The Dutchman was spotted hobbling about on crutches during the Reds’ trophy lift.
And according pictural evidence from journalist James Pearce on X, Gravenberch was not the only casualty for Liverpool.
“Wataru Endo on crutches with his left foot in a protective boot,” Pearce reports, alongside a worrying picture of Endo on his crutches.
More injury woes for Liverpool
At this point, what can you do but laugh? It seems that after every game at the moment, Liverpool get one or two more added to the injury list.
And these are not bit-part players either. Owing to the likes of Dominik Szoboszlai and Curtis Jones being injured, Gravenberch and Endo are now nailed-on starters for the Reds.
Endo in particular has been excellent this season and continued that with a monstrous display against Chelsea.
With young players all around him, the Japan captain was trusted to be the experienced head in the midfield.
James McConnell one side, Bobby Clark the other, it was a big job for Endo. But he came through it with flying colours.

It was yet another showing of why Klopp and his recruitment team were convinced to break the mould and sign Endo from Stuttgart in the summer.
If he’s out for any time at all, it’s going to be a problem for Liverpoool.
Discounting Endo and Gravenberch, the Alexis Mac Allister is currently the Reds’ sole fit, senior midfielder. Looks like those youngsters will get another run out against Southampton in midweek.
Hopefully this is just a precaution after an intense 90 minutes. But until we hear any more updates, this is a real worry.
