Just because there is a lot of uncertainty around Liverpool, does not mean the club is not planning ahead for the summer transfer window. Even without a manager and a sporting director, the recruitment team is hard at work.
After all it’s not just the managers and the sporting directors who make important decisions when it comes to signing players. There’s a whole team of people behind them. That team of people will already be drawing up shortlist and seeking out candidates for the summer window.
It’s a transfer window which is going to be pivotal for Liverpool. The first one without Jurgen Klopp, and the first one with a new sporting director in charge. It’s also a window, where Liverpool will need to strengthen in several areas.
One of the key positions where Liverpool are going to be actively looking for targets is in the centre-back role. Liverpool need to bring in more more centre-back with the expected departure of Joel Matip, whose contract expires at the end of the season.

Marc Guehi Liverpool transfer latest
It seems that one of Liverpool’s favourite candidates for the centre-back position is Marc Guehi. The England international defender has been on the club’s radar for a while. And yesterday there was a report linking him yet again with a move to Anfield in the summer.
Guehi is a top talent, and regarded as one of the best up and coming defenders in the Premier League. In the past the Daily Mail suggested he would cost around £60m. A high price to pay but not extortionate for a player who wears the captain’s armband for a strong Premier League side at just 23-years-old.
If the possibility arose, Guehi seems like he would be open to a move as well. Last year, when Palace were about to face Liverpool, the former Chelsea defender spoke in extremely high regard about the club and the players.
Speaking to Palace TV, Guehi said: “I don’t think there’s any good time to play Liverpool, really.
“Everyone knows how strong they are as a team, they’ve got some fantastic players, obviously off the back of a good season they had as well so it’s going to be a tough game.
“We expect that and hopefully we can go and put in a good performance.”
It’s obvious Guehi admires the club, and the feeling seems to be mutual with Liverpool as well. He is definitely one to watch in the coming months ahead.
