The January transfer window brought little excitement for football fans in general. It was one of the quietest windows in a long time with hardly any major transfers made. For Liverpool, it was a particularly strange time with Jurgen Klopp’s announcement to leave the club thrown in the middle of it.

That made things uncertain at Liverpool. And pretty much impossible to make any recruitments. Which meant Liverpool almost missed out on a player who has been on the club’s radar for some time.

During the January window, Brentford were really keen to sign Antonio Nusa. The Premier League side came really close to bringing him to England from Club Brugge. However, in the end, a move for Nusa fell through, and it seems like Brentford won’t be revisiting his transfer any time soon according to the latest reports.

Liverpool still have a chance to sign Antonio Nusa

Liverpool have been a long-term admirer of Antonio Nusa, and were keen on him even in the January window. However, due to the precarious situation around the club – they couldn’t move for him then.

At the time, it seemed like Nusa was going to fall from their grasp. However, now it seems like that might not be the case. According to Belgian journalist Sacha Tavolieri, Nusa definitely won’t be signing for Brentford. However, other Premier League clubs are still interested in the winger’s services.

Brentford reportedly made a £25m bid [Standard] for him in January, which was accepted. But then Nusa the move still collapsed.

In this day and age, that kind of fee is a bargain for a player like Nusa. He’s regarded as one of the most exciting young talents in world football. Only 18-years-old, he’s not only a regular for Club Brugge’s first team but he’s also getting regular minutes at senior level for the Norwegian senior national team.

Explosive and fast, with the ability to beat his opponents with ease and a great eye for goal, Nusa ticks a lot of boxes for Liverpool. He’s the kind of player who suits exactly what the club has asked from its attackers over the last few seasons. It would not be a surprise for Liverpool to make a move for him in the summer when the there is more clarity over the club’s future.
