Michail Antonio is not the most popular player among Liverpool supporters at the moment. This season the West Ham United striker has been coming out with some big statements.
From claiming that he thought West Ham were going to finish above Liverpool in the Premier League, to saying that he doesn’t want the Reds to win the league. Unsurprisingly, those kind of comments are not going to win you any sympathies from Liverpool supporters. Even if some of them have been said in tongue and cheek.
But his latest comments, while they will be unpopular, may even have a degree of truth to it. A truth Liverpool fans will not like. But a part of us has to accept.

Michail Antonio’s latest comments about Liverpool
Speaking on The Players Channel Podcast, Antonio was quizzed about West Ham United’s being absolutely thrashed by Arsenal last weekend. Antonio was quick to deflect thought and point the fingers back at Liverpool.
“You got battered! What’s going on?” Liverpool fan and presenter, Rickie Haywood-Williams proposed the question to Antonio.
“Alright, shall we say how much you guys got battered by them last week as well?”
“It wasn’t 6-0,” Haywood-Williams added.
“Can I just say… we are talking about Arsenal and Liverpool. We are talking about Arsenal and West Ham. You guys got battered by them too. You can’t talk like you got battered. I analysed the game on the Monday and you weren’t really in the game, Arsenal had you guys sorted,” Antonio said.
Even though most Liverpool fans will not like what Antonio said, it’s partly true. Liverpool should have done a lot better against Arsenal. The Gunners dominated the game. And we were all disappointed with how things had panned out.
If Liverpool want to win the league, that was a missed opportunity to get ahead in the race. Thankfully, the Reds are still in a good position. But that result is one that we will rue. Because Arsenal were far and way the better side in that game.
