For most footballers nowadays, tattoos are a common feature on their bodies. Liverpool’s number eight – Dominik Szoboszlai is no exception. He has been getting tatted since he was a teenager, and even has a tattoo with a Steven Gerrard quote.
As Rousing the Kop exclusively revealed, Szoboszlai is currently injured and travelled back to Hungary last week for further assessments. However, before he made the trip back to his homeland, he invited Hungarian tattoo artist Daniel Torocsik to his home in the North of England to sew on his latest tattoo.
The two of them shared an image on social media which went viral with many eagle-eyed fans spotting a cardboard cut-out of Szoboszlai in the background. Now Torocsik has been speaking in the Hungarian media about Szoboszlai’s latest tattoo and revealed the true meaning behind it.
The meaning behind Dominik Szoboszlai’s tattoo
Torocsik was asked about what Dominik Szoboszlai’s new tattoo means on Hungarian television RTL’s Morning Show. In the interview Torocsik revealed that the tattoo represents Szoboszlai’s journey so far – and what is still yet to come.
“His whole journey, which is his career. From the time he was born, he started playing football, and the mentality he has on this difficult but successful path. This is what he wanted to sew on himself in pictures,” Torocsik explained.
“Moving, from left to right, the tattoo tells a story, from his birth, who knows how long, to the stars, which he can still reach.”
That’s a great and very profound meaning. Dominik Szoboszlai has always put great thought into his tattoos. Often they have become prophecies in a way. Like his tattoo of Gerrard’s quote on his arm. Which has taken on a new meaning since he inherited the Liverpool legend’s number eight shirt at Anfield.
The next step now is to reach the ‘stars.’ Which the 23-year-old is more than capable of doing so. He’s already shown just how exciting of a player he can be. And there’s clearly much more to come.
