‘I think’… Trent Alexander-Arnold explains what Liverpool must now do to win trophies this season

The objective is very clear for Liverpool for the remainder of the season. The Reds will aim to do what they could not almost two years ago now.

Back in the 2021/22 campaign, Liverpool went into the final few months of the season with the same spirit and attitude. Every game was a must win in a quest to deliver an unprecedented quadruple.

It was an exciting time. Games happening thick and fast, and plenty to enjoy and get stuck into. But despite all the excitement in the end, Liverpool fell short of two hurdles and only succeeded overcoming the other two. Jurgen Klopp’s side lost the Champions League final and the Premier League title by a mere whisker. The season therefore saw Liverpool ‘only’ lift the Carabao Cup and the FA Cup. This time around in Klopp’s last hurrah, the players will be determined for things to end-up differently. And Trent Alexander-Arnold has now shared how exactly Liverpool will be able to achieve their ambitions.

Trent Alexander-Arnold on what Liverpool must do now

No one will be more determined to deliver that exciting last dance for Jurgen Klopp than Trent Alexander-Arnold. As an academy graduate, Alexander-Arnold will know better than anyone how much Liverpool’s success would mean to the city. As someone who has only ever played under Jurgen Klopp at first team level, he will also know what a final successful farewell would mean to his boss.

Speaking on CNN, Alexander-Arnold was asked about winning a possible quadruple and what the Reds needed to do in order to achieve it.

“The Carabao Cup is a 50-50 chance,” Alexander-Arnold explained.

“I think the other competitions or the other cup competitions speak for themselves. So I will back ourselves against any team in the world to go and be able to beat them over a game of two legs of European football at Anfield. I back ourselves to be able to beat any team in the world in Europe.

“Like I said, with the FA Cup, by ourselves, to be able to beat any team, I believe we’re capable of doing is beating any team that is in front of us.

“And I think that’s the mentality needed to have to win the league. It’s going to come down to consistency and results and it would be nice to say we’re going to win every game between now and the end of the season. But there’s a good chance that’s not going to happen. And then we’ve got to limit the points that we drop. Really, we need to put a good run together, which we’re capable of doing and we also need to keep our mentality right cause I’m sure the pressure will be right behind us.”
