Alonso is one of the most exciting young managers in world football at the moment. He has done a brilliant job at Bayer Leverkusen. It’s a job Jose Mourinho recently described as ‘extraordinary.’
On top of that, he’s got the affiliations to Liverpool. Alonso is already a cult hero at the club, and the fans will back him if he is appointed.
All of that makes the Spaniard the ideal candidate. The priority for Liverpool now should be to try to establish whether he is interested in the role. And if he is the club should attempt to recruit him as soon as possible.
