Didi Hamann names the ‘ideal choice’ for Liverpool to pick to replace Jurgen Klopp

Replacing Liverpool at Jurgen Klopp is not an envious task. It’s practically mission impossible. There is no one like the German. No one with his charisma, with his ethos and philosophy. Nor can anyone compare to his style and man management. He is simply one of a kind. A rare jewel in the world of football.

But while all of that is true. What is also true is that Liverpool now somehow do have to find a replacement for him. And do what cannot be done.

Who could even come in for the Liverpool man? There are very few candidates who may be available for the job, and who have what it takes to step into the role at Anfield. Jurgen Klopp has been in a league of his own with probably Pep Guardiola for several years now – if not a decade.

But there is one man who has been on everyone’s lips and who former Liverpool midfielder, Didi Hamann believes might have what it takes.

Speaking on talkSPORT, Hamann revealed that he thought the only person who could take over from Klopp at Liverpool was his ex-teammate Xabi Alonso.

“If anyone can do it, I think it’s Xabi because he is loved by the people, he’s been a brilliant player and what he does at Leverkusen is exceptional,” Hamann said.

He then went onto explain that the reason why he believes Alonso could have what it takes to takeover from Klopp – especially over other possible candidates.

“But obviously there is a danger to going in after Klopp. The expectations, the pressure is going to be high. I think they will have a team, if it stays together, that more or less competes for the Premier League next season. But then again if you don’t get him the club has to get the best person for the job. People talk about De Zerbi or Postecoglou, Liverpool is different. And obviously he knows what the club is like, as I said he is loved by the fans. For me I think he will be the ideal choice. If he sees it the same I’m not too sure.”

We have to agree, Alonso is an excellent fit for Liverpool, and he is definitely our favourite to succeed Klopp as well. He’s done a fantastic job at Bayer Leverkusen. He already understands the ethos of the club. And on top of that he is playing an exciting style of football that fans will love. What more do you need?
