Jamie Carragher names the two foreign clubs who Jurgen Klopp will never manage

As Jurgen Klopp prepares to leave Liverpool, he’s already being touted for his next job.

Klopp has claimed that he’ll be looking to take at least a year out of management before he decides where to go next. But when you’re one of the best in the game, you’re going to get offers in the meantime.

Right now, the most likely scenario would seem that Jurgen joins on as German national team coach following this summer’s Euros. But with the Barcelona job also set to become available, maybe the 56-year-old could be tempted by the allure of Camp Nou.

Well, not actually. That’s according to Jamie Carragher anyway. Speaking on The Overlap today, Carragher claimed that Barca are one of the teams he could never see the Klopp managing.

“He will have options but I couldn’t imagine Jurgen Klopp managing Real Madrid or Barcelona,” said the Liverpool legend.

“I couldn’t see him at Real Madrid but I could see him at Barcelona,” countered Neville.

Carragher dismisses Klopp jobs

This is painful to discuss, really. Klopp isn’t even gone from Liverpool yet. For us, it obviously wouldn’t feel right seeing him in any other job. Period.

The German national team position is perhaps an exception to that. Imagine Jurgen leading his team to the World Cup, for example, we’d all love to see that for him.

But it would feel so strange to see Klopp wearing another badge on his chest, connecting with another fanbase.

This is football though, and Liverpool supporters will have to prepare for the possibility of that happening.

In that spirit, we’re actually with Neville here. We can’t see any reason why Jurgen wouldn’t be interested in the Barcelona job.

Given that it’s difficult to really build something over a long period at Real Madrid, that does feel like a club that wouldn’t suit the German. But at Barca, there is the possibility to create a culture, especially with players coming through from the youth team.

In terms of pressure and intensity though, the top job at the Catalonian giants is probably even more so than at Liverpool. After experiencing such an energy loss at Anfield, maybe Jurgen will be after something a little less taxing.

In our mind, he’s still staying with the Reds for the rest of eternity though. So, you know.
