Jurgen Klopp has spoken to the press after announcing his intention to leave Liverpool as manager.
The Reds boss shocked the world this morning, by stating that he will no longer be in charge of the club next season.
As Liverpool supporters across the world get to grips with Jurgen’s decision, the hunt will slowly begin for his successor.
A few names have been bandied about so far, with Xabi Alonso perhaps the early favourite. But speaking in a press conference today, Klopp says that he will play no part in the hiring of the Reds new head coach.
“Why should I?” asked the 56-year-old when asked if he’ll have some input in the hiring process.
“What we’ve built over the past 8 and a half years is a very strong structure behind the scenes. The last thing they need is advice from the old man walking out. I will definitely not do that.”
Klopp to play no part in hiring process
Jurgen’s answer here is absolutely fair enough. The German has done his duty over the past more than eight years. No more should be expected of him.
We’ve seen in the past at other clubs how a legendary departing manager can make a mess of the task of finding a successor.
Just look at Manchester United back in 2013. With Sir Alex Ferguson leaving after 20 some years, the task to replace him was an absolutely huge one.
In the end, Ferguson seemingly played a big part in United hiring David Moyes.

The Scottish coach was apparently convinced that Moyes was absolutely the right man to continue his legacy at Old Trafford.
As it turned out, Fegie couldn’t have been more wrong. Moyes didn’t even see out the season.
So, obviously, that isn’t something that always works. Who Klopp thinks may be a success may not be the right fit.
As a result, we’re happy with this attitude from the manager. This is his tenure, whatever happens beyond that is nothing to do with him.
