As Liverpool look ahead to the second-half of the season, next summer’s transfer window is already coming into view.

Early signs are that it could well be another one dominated by Mohamed Salah’s potential move to the Saudi Pro League.

But aside from Salah, Liverpool could have another player making a big drop down in quality at the end of the season. As things stand, Thiago Alcantara’s contract is due to expire at the end of June.

And speaking exclusively to Rousing The Kop, journalist Graeme Bailey has claimed that Thiago could yet end up at Inter Miami, alongside a certain Lionel Messi.

“Thiago, the important thing is if he comes back fit and we’ll see where he ends up,” Bailey says. “You could see him back at Barcelona helping out Gavi and Pedri in a role, you could see him at Inter Miami, you could see him in Saudi.

“He’s going to have a lot of options, he is. But I think he’ll definitely be leaving the Premier League.”

Thiago ready for Messi reunion

There’s a part of us that’s still desperate for things to work out for Thiago at Liverpool. In a dream scenario he comes back soon, impresses for the last months of the season and earns himself a new, one-year deal at Anfield. As Virgil van Dijk recently said, the Reds No.6 is a ‘complete midfielder.’ We need him.

But the more time the Spaniard sits out this term, the more unlikely that seems. It’ll soon be one whole year since Thiago last started a game for Liverpool.

With that in mind, it’s time to accept that Bailey’s words are not to be argued with here. Thiago will definitely be leaving.

Having come to terms with the fact that we just haven’t seen the best of the former Barcelona man at Liverpool, attention turns to where he’ll land next.

If Miami is a serious option for Thiago, then we’d like to see him there.

Obviously, a return to mainland Europe would be good, too. But the Spain international’s days at the top level appear to sadly be behind him now.

As a result, why not go and soak in the sun in Florida? His old Barca mates Messi, Jordi Alba and Sergio Busquets are already there. Plus he can chat all things Liverpool with Luis Suarez. What a life.

The warm weather could also be beneficial for a player who’s hip has seemingly had enough of the chilly Merseyside air. We’ll be sad to see Thiago go, but one last dance with the greatest of all time would be a fitting way for him to exit the stage.
